About

A green coffee supplier at origin, built on specifications rather than claims

Uganda Coffee Merchants supplies Ugandan Robusta and Arabica to international buyers from Kampala. We are a young, family-founded company, and we would rather earn trust with measurable specifications, checkable documents and straight answers than with a story about the past.

What we do

We source green coffee in Uganda — natural and washed Robusta from the central belt and the west, washed and natural Arabica from Mount Elgon, the Rwenzori mountains and West Nile — have it graded to Uganda's export standard, and supply it to importers, roasters, traders and manufacturers, normally FOB Mombasa. We sell only green coffee, only to businesses.

Why the name

“Uganda Coffee Merchants” says exactly what we are: merchants of Uganda coffee. We chose a plain descriptive name over a family or invented name because our buyers are professionals in another country who need to understand, spell and remember who they are dealing with after hearing the name once. The mark — a U crossed by a horizontal line — stands for Uganda on the equator.

How we work

  • Sourcing. We buy from farmer groups, washing stations and trusted aggregators in the regions described on our origins pages, against moisture and visual standards, and we state the traceability level of every lot honestly: plot-level where the records exist, district-level where they do not.
  • Grading. Export lots are prepared at licensed grading factories — cleaned, screen-graded, density- and colour-sorted — and sampled for moisture, defect count and screen retention. Where a lot is cupped, the cupping report is the only source of the cup data we publish.
  • Selling. We quote against a written specification: price basis, Incoterm, shipment window, payment terms and documents. Evaluation sample first, then a pre-shipment sample from the prepared lot before anything is stuffed.
  • Documents. Every shipment leaves under a valid MAAIF export marketing licence with the quality certificate, ICO certificate of origin and phytosanitary certificate described on our documents page.

What we publish and what we do not

We publish grades, specifications, measured values, sourced statistics and the mechanics of buying from Uganda. We do not publish live prices, testimonials, customer names, volumes shipped, certifications we do not hold, or a founding year dressed up as heritage. Where this site quotes a statistic it names the source and date. Where information has not been confirmed, the site says “available on request”.

Where we are

Kampala, Uganda. Company registration details and our physical address are published in the footer of this site as they are confirmed; ask and we will send them with our offer. Enquiries are answered by email from info@ugandacoffeemerchants.com.

How to verify us

The Uganda coffee exporters page sets out a six-point checklist for verifying any Ugandan exporter — registration, licence, real shipment documents, physical presence, samples before money, references. We invite you to apply it to us.
